The semi-final saw the top eight surfers competing for ‘Best Ride’ which consisted of heaving barrels to progressive combinations.
The finalists were decided by an expert judging panel consisting of Surfing Australia and Oakley representatives, and public opinion, determined by social media interactions – views, likes, shares and votes. Public opinion accounts for 50% of the score, with the final 50% decided by the Oakley and Surfing Australia judging panel.
The final four surfers will now head to Hawaii with the mySURF.tv crew where they will take part in the making of the Oakley Battle Clips film. Each surfer will have their own 2-3 minute part to showcase the full range of their surfing ability.
