The new Bali Wake Park at Benoa Harbor will be the site of Rip Curl’s King of Benoa International Wakeboarding Competition to take place on March 26th and 27th 2016.

This will be the very first International wakeboarding competition in Bali sponsored by RIPCURL and will boast 2 Professional and 4 Amateur categories. This first-of-its-kind two-day celebration of high performance board riding will offer action from Professional Wakeboard, Professional Wake Skate, Amateur Men’s Wakeboard, Amateur Women Wakeboard, Amateur Groms as well as Amateur Wakeskate categories.

“Rip Curl has always been proud to support wakeboarding” Says Rip Curl Marketing Manager James Hendy, “and with the best Wakeboarding Park in Indonesia right in our own backyard, this was a natural fit. We are really looking forward to witnessing cutting edge performances from all the six divisions”.

“Within this international field of athletes there are sure to be some rising stars from Indonesia challenging the best Wakeboarders in the world” Hendy goes on to say, “We are hoping this event will give rise to a whole new generation of healthy, motivated Indonesian athletes that want to be part of the Ocean and water sports lifestyle we all love”.

Wakeboarding is one of the fastest growing sports in South East Asia and with the advent of specially designed wakeboarding parks like Bali Wake Park, with sophisticated tow lines instead of engine driven boats, this sport is now safer, more affordable and accessible to riders of all ages and skill levels. Moreover there is no pollution from the electric motors driving the system thus making Bali Wake Park environmentally friendly as well.

“Bali Wake Park is stoked to collaborate with Rip Curl on this event” says Managing Director of BWP, Kimo Rusna. “Since we opened in April of 2015, we have seen a significant number of new riders taking up this fun and healthy sport, some of which would also be taking part in this competition. Watching professional riders from all over the world compete will definitely open up these riders perspective of what can be done on a wakeboard and we foresee a bright future for wakeboarding in this country.

Catch all the action this March 26th- 27th at the newly built Bali Wake Park at Benoa Harbor.
