Welcome to the National Sailing Center of Singapore, the host of the Sim 35th Singapore Open Championships. It’s the biggest local windsurfing multiclass event organized by the Windsurfing Association of Singapore and supported by Singapore Sailing Federation. Each year athletes of all ages take part in various classes, from Techno 293 junior to the Olympic RS:X class.
27 athletes in 4 different classes aimed for a clean start some early wins. The action began with the Tecnho 293 class followed by RS: one, the last bullet went to the competitive RS:X class!
2016 is an Olympic year and all the events around the globe are a warm up before the grand finale. RS:X is one of the most exiting of sailing classes. Technical, Physical and Mental power are key for reaching maximum speed and the finishing line first. But in order to achieve victory you also need a clear start.
By the end of the first day and the three races of the Sim 35th Singapore Open Championships Thailand had dominated the Techno 293 and RSX: one. Audrey Yong from Singapore is leading in RS: X 8.5. In the RS:X 9.5 there is only 4 points between the top three with Oka Sulaksana from Indonesia having the smallest of leads. Stay tuned, the Championship has just started!
